The Colored Powder sessions are something that I have been working on for about 6 months now. It is a personal project and a work in progress but I love seeing the evolution behind them. It all started when I saw a photograph on Pintrest. Yes, I knew about the colored powder from the color run but I did not ever think about it being a portrait until I saw this photograph. It sparked a strong interest in me so I started doing my research. Looking into where the powder was from and what it was called. When I figured that out and figured out how I wanted to set up my little station to do my portraits I got to work. First I went onto Amazon and bought a variety of colors in the Holi powder. Then I went to a craft store and bought a roll of white seamless paper to photograph against. The last thing I had to figure out was how I was going to hold up the paper, a trip to home depot figured that one out quickly. Lots and Lots of PVC. Then I had to start getting the models to come in and agree to me throwing colored powder at their faces. My first model was the perfect person to start with, she modeled easily and had so much energy. It went perfectly with my thought process behind it. I was so happy with the results that I decided that this would be an on going personal project of mine and I would get everyone to agree to let me throw powder at them. After some time, my photographs have grown and I have tried new ideas. It is still a work in progress, but I like the way its going.
I hope you enjoy my latest work from my powder shoots. If you want to see some of my other powder shoot work, check out my personal page on the side bar.
